How to choose the right lures and bait

As most of you fishermen will know it is very difficult to choose one, single best lure for bass fishing in North America. Spinner bait is usually the one that springs to mind that most fishermen would cite for being the best bass fishing lure, if they could only choose a single bait to use.

That choice would be based largely on the fact that it is probably the most versatile to use. You can use it to fish at various depths, not limiting yourself to your choices if the bass are suspended, shallow, or deep. If you cast your spinner, and start reeling immediately, it will stay on the surface for shallow fishing. You can cast and then wait a bit, letting it sink partway to the bottom, so you can catch suspended fish, or you can let it sink to the bottom before beginning your retrieve to catch those fish on the bottom.

Another excellent choice of a lure that is sure to catch a lot of bass is the crankbait. They come in a huge array of colors from which you may choose. They work well when you need to fish anywhere from the depths to the surface, and they may even be equipped with sound makers to attract the bass. They are designed to look like natural baits such as shad, crawfish, or minnows.

Another very good choice of lures with which to catch bass is a simple, plastic worm. You can fish these lures very simply with great results. You can use a Carolina Rig, Wacky Rig, Texas Rig, Floating Rig, or any number of others, and really all you have to do in order to be successful doing it is to slow down your presentation just a bit. There are new rigs being developed every day too, so the versatility you seek will be there when using plastic worms as bait for catching bass.

If you are looking to catch really big bass rather than larger numbers of bass, you might want to try a pig and jig combo. It really is a very good combination for catching the big largemouth. You can give it a try anywhere, but, of course, it is going to work best for you in areas where there are larger sized bass and they are biting. If you are fishing early in the morning or later in the evening, you really might want to consider using top water lures for catching bass. They are pretty effective during the prime times for their target use.

Jerk bait and suspending bait are also very good choices for bass fishing. If you have not given them a try, go for it. Many of the locals in various areas will tell you that this is one of the best ways to fish for bass. What’s more, it creates something new and interesting for you to do while you are fishing.

Just remember that since conditions change rapidly when fishing for bass, the lures you need to use can change just as rapidly making what worked for you a few minutes ago, obsolete in current conditions. The biggest thing is just to be versatile and adapt your presentation and choices for lures to the conditions in which you are fishing. Try to understand the patterns of the bass in your particular body of water, and fish according to the current conditions present.

If you are fishing in an area where the natural bait is minnows, the bass will likely bite minnows or anything that looks like it might be a minnow. If you present bait they have never seen in their native habitat, you are likely to scare them away, or at best, get a few nibbles from the more adventurous of the bunch and really not be able to catch your limit.

If you consistently fish with one bait in a certain location with good results only to find under similar conditions in the same areas a few days later, you are not getting the kind of results you want, start keeping a fishing diary. Pay attention to what you are doing, and consult your book, and pretty soon you are going to begin seeing a pattern that will help you know what bait to fish at what times and in which areas.

How to choose a fishing spot

There’s nothing pretty like the feeling of reeling in that prize catch while fishing over clear sunny skies and crystal blue waters. Nothing else quite compares to the pride you feel carrying your catch for the day and feeling its weight in your hands. But before you get to any of this, there’s always the long and tiresome search for the perfect fishing spot. This search can be quite discouraging, especially when the catch doesn’t know how to choose a fishing spot.

No one wants to go out into open waters and spend hours searching for the right fishing spot only to catch a tiny minnow. To make sure you never have that experience, try a few of these tips on how to choose a fishing spot to catch that prized fish.

1. Know what you want to capture

A lot of the time some anglers and especially first-timers will go out into the sea and expect just to catch whatever is out there. To find the right fishing spot though, you have to know the kind of fish you want to catch. Not all fish stay in deep waters, and not all of them stay in shallow waters either. Focusing your target on a particular fish will help you determine whether to stay more towards the deep or shallow end.

2. Do some research

It’s always helpful to know more about a possible fishing area, so try doing some research online before heading out to sea. You’ll be amazed by the much helpful information you could gather, like what kind of bait to use and where to get them, the most popular fishing areas and plenty of other helpful hints. You can also read up on your possible fishing spots on various fishing books and magazines.

3. Get friendly with the locals

Locals know the most about the best spots to fish. If you plan to go fishing to an unfamiliar place, you should get friendly with the locals by buying their goods and sharing stories, and see what kind of information they can give you. Be careful to pick the right locals though, because some of them might just view you as competition and give you false information. When you do this right though, some of them might just join you and point you in the right direction.

4. Be prepared for trial and error

If you’re fishing in unfamiliar waters, you can always expect some trial and error to occur. But don’t let this dampen your spirits. Instead, persevere and move on to another spot when you find nothing biting for over an hour. And always keep track of where you’ve been and where you get the most bites, so you’ll know exactly where to go on your next fishing trip.
So the next time you plan to venture the open waters, take a tip or two from this list, so you won’t come home empty-handed. Fishing is a refreshing experience and one that you’re sure to enjoy giving you bigger chances to catch those elusive prized fishes and explore more great fishing spots.

Gear for Fishing

What makes a person want to fish? I’m sure most people don’t have a clue as to why they like to fish or what prompted them to do it in the first place. Whatever the reason, each year multitudes of people take up the sport of fishing. Most head off to their local sporting goods store or Target to buy the cheapest Fishing Tackle they can find.

I have created a short Guide on purchasing your first gear to start fishing. You don’t need expensive or complicated gear to catch a fish. It’s no secret that fishing tackle manufacturers design fishing tackle to catch the fishermen’s eye instead of fish. The fishing tackle I used to catch fish all those years ago still works today. Just as good or better than the tackle being pushed on unsuspecting fishermen now.

There are things out there on the market that can make a fisherman’s life a lot easier and the range of products if very large. As I just stated, in general, there are a lot of different ideas that I could generate about products, but, I will try to narrow it down to just a few that I truly believe are either awesome or good to have. The list of products I will be to go into detail about are a rod holder, a tackle box, a fishing net, a trolling motor, and trolling boards. After I discuss the topics, I will provide links to each of the suggested products.

First on the agenda is my recommendation for a rod holder. The reason I recommend a rod holder is very simple, organization. Fishing rods are a particularly weird object as they are long, pointy, and somewhat fragile. An adequate rod holder for your garage or shed is the perfect product to keep them stowed away safely and in an orderly fashion. I recommend you do research on rod holders in the marketplace because some rod holders tend to be “cheapy” and can damage your fishing rods. In addition to garage rod holders, I recommend a rod holder/case for transportation of fishing rods. This is essential for fishermen who are looking to take their equipment in the car because it will protect the fishing rods from damage.

The next item of interest I would like to talk about is simply a tackle box. Tackle boxes are obviously a necessity for any fisherman. However, buying the right one may not be as simple as you would tend to think. Tackle boxes come in many shapes and sizes and choosing the right one is tricky. In addition to the many different shapes and sizes that go with tackle boxes, there are also different styles. Tackle boxes can be hard or soft. Hard ones are made with plastic, and soft are made with fabric. I recommend purchasing a tackle box that has a hard surface. Through my experience, I have had a lot of issues with a soft tackle box. Hooks get caught in it and it also just rips and gets worn out over time.

How Many Types of Fish Are There?

If you want to take care of fish and their aquarium, you should try to relate to those fish. You can select between freshwater and the saltwater fish. The freshwater fish are of two sorts: cold-water and tropical. There are some fish types that you can get on the off chance that you need to begin keeping fish.

The Pantodontidae Species: This group of fish incorporates a couple of sorts, similar to the butterfly or the flying fish. Their inception is West Africa, and their greatest size is 10cm (4 inches). The body of the butterfly fish is level, and it has little examples on it. Tropical fish have a level shape for the body.

The family from which the butterfly fish originates from is Chaetodontidae. They have an upward turned mouth and boat-shaped bodies. You will also notice a huge chest that is wing like. Some of the will be colored brown, while others will be green or gray. In some cases, you will see dark spots or streaks on their bodies.

This is a species that is quite passive, but you should still keep them together with fish of the same size or species.

Feeding them They will not eat from the aquarium’s bottom. They would rather eat small fish or insects. You can also teach them to eat worms or meat based dishes. Teaching them to do that will require a long stick.

The type of water They enjoy water that is a bit soft, with a temperature around 80F. The butterfly specie of fish should be kept in an aquarium that is only half filled but has plenty of thick plants inside.

This is not a fish that will breed quickly in captivity. If you want fish that will breed, pick a species that will do that. On the off chance that despite everything you need to run with the Pandotidae and they do breed, give their posterity minute creepy crawlies to eat. It takes around 3 days for the eggs to bring forth.

The Mormyridae Species Another fish species is the Mormyridae, which can be found in Central and South Africa. One fascinating truth about this fish is that their mind weight to body weight proportion is equivalent to that of a man. It’s a fish that is anything but difficult to instruct and inquisitive about their environment. In the event that you need to purchase this fish, you ought to ensure they get the best possible sustenance, or they may decrease it.

The Marcusenius Schilthuisiae Species It’s additionally called trunkfish or now and again elephant trunkfish. Their starting point is Central Congo, and their greatest size is 10cm (4 inches). Their body is silver/darker with a dull tubercle and some dim groups. In many aspects, this fish is similar with the G. Peters, in areas like food, sexing, water conditions and breeding.

The Gnathonemus Peters Species Another name for this species is elephant nosed fish. Their maximum size in an aquarium is around 10cm (4 inches), and they can be found in Congo and Cameroon. However, in the wild, they can get to 23cm (9 inches). Their chins are elongated and squeezed against their body. They have both a dorsal and an anal fin. Their color is either dark brown or black, with two white stripes.

It’s a passive fish that can be kept in aquariums with other species of fish. They like eating freshwater fleas and Tubifex. Their aquarium should have plenty of plants for them to hide in and the temperature of the water should be 80F. Powerful lights are not a good idea.

History of Fishing

When you are on your next fishing trip and drop your hook line and sinker into the water take some time to contemplate how this relaxing water sport came into being while you wait for the fish to bite. But beware not to drown too deep into history and miss a few good nibbles on the lure!

Like all things alive today, the sport of fishing started in the water too. Before man learned to use a hook line and sinker he used to dive in and manually try to grab hold of a fish near the surface. This being quite a tedious task he decided to experiment and try to catch fish in different ways.

The sport of fishing is perhaps the oldest of sporting activities in the world. It has been taken up merely for the fun, sporting spirit and of course food the sport provides. Historical records show depictions of ancient deposits of bone, shell, and paintings on the walls of caves depicting early man fishing in waters and catching fish. This activity was indulged in for food rather than sport. However, the idea soon caught on, and man began fishing for the fun of it all.

The waters of the ancient Nile are an angler’s paradise and have been since time immemorial. The staple diet of the Egyptians was fish, fresh and dried. They have been responsible for developing the many methods of fishing that are still in vogue even today. The Egyptians were a very technically advanced civilization and they were known to use hooks, lines, traps and nets to catch their fish. Though they managed well enough to catch the fish they still resorted to the ancient method of clubbing the fish to death. The popular catches were catfish, eels, and perch.

It is probably the Eskimos and red Indians who invented the modern fishing tactics. They were the ones who also discovered the methods of ice fishing and fishing out of boats. Meanwhile, the civilization of Greece is also known to have contributed to the history of fishing. Though they were not particularly fond of the activity, they is evidence that the Greeks indulged in the sport of fishing as there is a cine cup from as far back as 500 BC depicting a boy near a stream with a fishing rod and tackle. There is also evidence of fishing from the Roman era. The Romans fished with nets and off the side of the boats using tridents.

The most recognizable form of fishing is using the fishing hook. There is no evidence to prove the theory, but it is believed that prehistoric man discovered the use of the fishing hook over 40,000 years ago. This is perhaps the most exciting and easiest form of fishing ever developed. It is also, perhaps, the device that turned fishing into a sport.

With such a long-standing relation with the water sport, it is not a wonder that over half the world’s sportsmen are inclined to take to the sport of fishing if for nothing else but the relaxation of it all.
